Prague Tour

Start your tour of Prague at Pohorelec (on no.22 tram route, two stops past the castle). A short walk up between the houses takes you to the STRAHOV MONASTERY. Founded in 1140, it houses the baroque theological hall, and the Prague philosophical hall with its famous library. Attached to the monastery is the baroque church of Our Lady, with its highly decorated interior. From here, you are walking downhill all the rest of the way around Prague!

From there, walk back down through the houses to the square on which stands the LORETO church (Loreta), which houses the treasury room with a gold and diamond monstrance, amongst other fine pieces to decorate this Prague gem. In the impressive bell tower are 27 different sized bells which chime beautifully every hour. From here you can approach Prague castle along different roads. My preference is NOVY SVET (bottom corner of the square opposite Loreto church). This street is lined with interesting old houses on the way to Prague castle.

Prague - General Information

Passports
British passport holders do not require a visa to visit Prague. You must have a minimum of 6 months left on your passport and it must be in a presentable state. There have been instances of holders of passports in poor condition being refused entry to Prague! Children over 15 years old must have their own passports - they cannot travel to Prague on their parent's passport. It is also advisable to carry a photocopy of the data page from your passport with you at all times, for identification purposes (you can then leave your real passport in the Prague hotel safe where it will be much safer!)
